We don’t always look for the current must-see tv show, the one everybody’s talking about by the watercooler and that you can’t miss an episode of. To be honest, we usually actually prefer something more light-hearted, with not a lot of emotional involvement. Here are 8 fun shows you can watch while folding the laundry (arranged by their overall length, from shortest to longest).
1. Derry Girls
The sweetest – and perhaps the only – TV show about the political turmoil which Ireland went through in the 90s. A group of girls (and one guy) go through all the different crises of adolescence, while war - and a very thick Irish accent – is always present in the background.

2. Friends from College
Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Fred Savage (The Wonder Years) lead an impressive cast portraying a group of 40-year-old friends who’ve kept in touch since college. It’s not a very moving show, and sometimes it's not even that funny, and yet – it tells a very relatable story about big dreams that faded through the years.

3. What We Do in the Shadows
A mockumentary dark comedy based on Taika Waititi’s film under the same name. Three vampires from different historical periods arrive at present-day New York – and struggle to adjust. Be ready to forget about the outside world after the first 30 minutes.
Watch time: 10 hours
4. Explained
A short doco-series that each episode investigates a different compelling topic: from electronic sports to K-pop, from monogamy to pirates – everything is both meticulously made and random. The series has a few spin-off versions, such as Sex, Explained and the latest Coronavirus, Explained.
Watch time: 10 hours
5. Catastrophe
A bitter-sweet sitcom created by Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, who also star in it as – you’ve guessed it – Sharon and Rob, a couple that discovers that their short romance resulted in a pregnancy, and now they need to start a new family together.
Watch time: 12 hours
6. On My Block
A coming-of-age comedy about a group of teenagers, all from different ethnic backgrounds, living in a a rough Los Angeles neighborhood. Monse, Ruby and Jamal may not have been dealt with the best cards in life, but they are a bright and streetwise bunch that you just don’t want to miss.
Watch time: 14 hours
7. Atypical
As many other shows on this list, this show has not received the praises it deserves. Sam Gardner is an 18-year-old boy who's on the autistic spectrum. He lets viewers into his inner life and his search for love and independence – in the shadow of various family dramas.
Watch time: 14 hours
8. Difficult People
Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner, two misanthrope New York comedians who are obsessed with pop culture, star as Julie and Billy, two misanthrope New York comedians who are obsessed with pop culture. There are many shows inspired by 30 Rock - full of wacky characters, over-acting and obscure references - but this is probably one of the best, and most underrated, of them.
