When Russia started the war in Ukraine the whole world was in disbelief at the actions that Russia had taken. There was fear of another World War and a rush from those countries who were going to support Ukraine as they could. But as time has gone passed, the war is still ongoing and the world has had to find ways to cope with this terrible situation. Everyone copes with things differently though, but one thing everyone loves is some humor. These memes will cautiously give you a good laugh about the situation, and take your mind off the negative for a little while.
The Guy
This is not the best photo of Putin, but we’re not complaining. The amount of plastic surgery you can see on his face is crazy. This meme is a long-standing trend we see used often with different people, which we get because Zelensky is the better guy here, but to be fair, no one would like to read this and have Putin be the example used for the “you” part.
Zelensky looks fierce and in charge, in this picture of him, whereas Putin just looks like he’d melt if he got near a fire. No wonder he’s been hiding in his chambers this whole time.
Germany Taking Its Time
Ukraine has continuously needed weapons from other countries to support them in this ongoing war. But funnily enough, when asked, Australia who is 8070 miles away from them got them artillery and armored vehicles as soon as they could. Whereas Germany, only 930 miles away only gave them 15 tanks within 4 months. So yes, Australia is the bigger more built dog and Germany is kinda looking like the dog who squints in the sunlight.
Jokes aside, Ukraine has been grateful for any help they could get, it just shows us how distance apart does not matter to the level of support they are getting.
Warning
This meme shows a Ukrainian tractor pulling a badly beat-up and burning Russian tanker with an oldy Putin-looking man with blood on his hands (the blood of the Ukrainian deaths he has caused) shouting “I’m warning you, Finland!”. This is because Finland has quickly jumped to start the process of joining NATO as Russia and Finland share an 810-mile border, which of course Putin said if done, he will retaliate.
The humor comes in that Ukraine is not doing too badly in this war and Putin must feel the pressure of that and is already looking to another country to go after next.
He'll Be Dead Soon
Anyone with access to social media or even the internet should know what his meme means. For those who don’t, we’ll try to break it down. The four African American pallbearers are famous for their video carrying a coffin and dancing which has been resued in funny situations where people looked like they would die, or death is coming for them. The videos always have a coffin dance remix playing over it.
So if Putin looks through his binoculars and sees these four pallbearers, he should have that worried look on his face, because it would mean he’s going to get what he deserves.
Russian Propaganda
This meme explains perfectly what the whole world, excluding Russia, thinks of Russia's propaganda. Luckily for the majority of the world, people do not want to be fed ridiculous Russian propaganda or even consider believing it. We just chuck it out the house like this guy. The sad thing is though that Russians are so brainwashed that they believe the lies Putin feeds them, what a sad way to live.
Luckily for the rest of the world, we see the truth and damage and the pain Putin is causing Ukraine, and hopefully, he will not get away with it easily.
Banana
There are so many people who have hated Russia over the years that they even made it a real word. A Russophobe is someone who really hates Russia and its political system. Russian propaganda is so bad that Russians would believe Putin if he said this apple was a banana, and if you think we are over-exaggerating, believe us, we are not. Russians do not believe the war in Ukraine is real.
It's so bad that Putin has now controlled what people get to watch and read online and a lot of it does not show anything outside its own borders. They’re puppets being controlled.
Thinks He's Smart
“They won’t know when you’re lying if you lie all the time” is the exact explanation of Putin’s logic. This meme was put over a picture of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who is just as bad as Putin but is also being controlled by his nonsense. Lavrov has lied about countless things in talks, meetings, and public announcements, including the fact that people have evidence that Putin is sick.
Putin and the team of muppets who work for him have been lying for years to their people, and when it goes on so long, their people will believe anything say, regardless of the proof.
Visit to Helsinki
People get so good with these memes of Putin and Finland since Finland has decided to join NATO. If Putin were to visit Finland he already knows it will be to cause a fight and start a war there too. And what makes this meme even funnier is to end it off on a lie, because as we already know, that is what Putin does best, well, he thinks so.
Deportation is a penalty if you lie on your visa, so Putin wouldn’t have a chance of staying in any country that doesn’t want him there, which is most of them in case you wondered.
All the Weapons
This meme is based on a part in an episode of Parks and Recreation. When Zelensky asked for weapons from other countries, it sort of did go down just like this meme. We think a lot of countries heard, “give me a lot of weapons” instead of “give me all the weapons I need”. Ukraine needed and still needs all the artillery support it can get and countries aren’t giving their limits.
Although, Ukraine has been greatly supported by a lot of countries as much as they can and every little bit counts towards the fight for the end of this terrible war.
Bayraktar
The Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish-made drone that has been a massive help in the war against Russia in Ukraine. This drone is such a good weapon that countries all over the world want to get their hands on it. The Bayraktar drones have helped Ukraine get back parts of Kyiv, and destroyed many tankers and Russian warships. So yeah, it’s pretty cool, and make’s sense this guy is more interested in that.
Even if the genders in the meme were switched, the situation would still be the same. The world is impressed with these drones and the damage they’ve caused to the Russian military.
Azovstal
Azovstal is a steel plant in Mariupol in Ukraine which the Ukrainian army fought back, for weeks. The Russian forces really wanted to get control over Mariupol so they sent more forces there to fight for it. This meant that other frontline areas in Ukraine had fewer Russian forces and Ukraine could push them back. Azovstal was just a small piece compared to the courage of the men fighting for Mariupol.
The tip of the iceberg always has something stronger underneath, and in this case, it was the Ukrainian forces fighting for Mariupol who were the bigger chuck of support ice underneath.
One Day
This meme hits on Russia hard, and although we know we cannot say all Russians are terrible, although most are, this “did you know” should have been directed to Putin personally. The personality of someone insane and mentally depressed sounds just like the kind of personality Putin would have. But when a country is run by someone like that, it only makes sense the people who live in it would start to be the same.
There are a few people who live in Russia who want to leave now, so perhaps living there does make one feel depressed and slightly insane. Even just being there for 1 day.
The Future
As we now know, Finland is in the process of joining NATO. On the left of the picture is Sanna Marin, who has been serving as the prime minister of Finland since 2019. However, Ukraine may not join NATO anytime soon as it causes implications with the ongoing war. But NATO is supporting Ukraine however they can within the limitations. Perhaps one day Ukraine will be able to join NATO.
Joining NATO is not an easy or quick move for the countries who form part of it, but the alliance these countries will have once done will be really beneficial.
Backfired
This is also one of those memes that have been trending for a few years now taken from The Real Housewives show and a cat. The funny thing about this is that Russia is the second biggest arms supplier in the world so by asking Ukraine to demilitarize, they would too be losing in arms deals. However, this may no longer be the case today as there are other countries supplying Ukraine with weapons now.
Russia can keep fighting and continue with its war crimes, but at the end of the day, in the long run of things, Russia will be losing a whole lot more.
Royal Funeral
We can only hope that one day we will see this for real, the funeral of Russia’s imperial future because of sanctions placed on them by Ukraine-supporting countries. It has been great to see what other countries have done for Ukraine and all the small things they have done will one day affect Russia greatly. And when it does, the rest of the world will be smiling at its grave.
There is no justification for Putin's war on Ukraine, and we don’t think he has realized how much damage it has caused for Russia. He may not see it now, but it's coming.
UNinvolved
This picture was taken at just the right time for this to be an all-too-true meme. The UN cannot intervene in the war against Ukraine because the veto power of the permanent members of the Security Council makes it impossible. This means any permanent member can veto any attempts to help Ukraine during this crisis and because Russia is a permanent member, well, we all know Russia will veto it.
The UN is sadly uninvolved in peace in this situation just because of a veto rule, however, they have had an appeal to provide emergency aid and support to Ukrainians in and around Ukraine.
Euros for Bayraktar
Lithuania wanted to get involved in supporting Ukraine as they could, so a bunch of Lithuanians crowdfunded $5.2 million in just 3 days which they gave to Ukraine's military to buy another Bayraktar TB2 drone. Recently though the crowdfunding page has reached $20 million and Baykar will not accept the donated money for the drones and donated 3 military drones to Ukraine for free. Baykar is just too kind.
This meme comes from an anime scene and compares Lithuania to a little girl trying to buy 1 thing. But jokes on the meme creator now, because Lithuania has done better than they thought.
NATO's Fault
It seems like if anything happens that is not good for Russia, then Russia, or rather Putin, seems to blame NATO. In May 2022, during Putin's speech in Red Square, Russia, he even blamed NATO’s eastward expansion for the reason why he had to go to war with Ukraine. But just like in this meme, no one is at fault for anything happening other than Russia themselves, including this war.
Blaming NATO for this is one of Putin's biggest lies. It just shows more about his arrogance and delusion. The one in the wrong never sees it, so he has to blame someone else.
Democratic World
This meme is too true. Ukraine is pulling the weight of a democratic world because so many countries have all been able to agree on one thing and that is to help Ukraine and to disapprove of Russia’s actions. Ukraine has shown us that we could have a democratic world when the majority can rule in favor of one common ruling, and we not just talking about the hate on Russia right now.
A small country could lead the world to a better place, and we have been able to see how the world can be good in terrible times, regardless of alliances and supplies.
His Own Worst Enemy
In this meme, poor Putin feels stepped on by NATO, but as we can see and as we know he is only doing it to himself. Putin didn’t have to make things go this way and he only has himself to blame for the backlash he is getting from NATO countries. Putin thought that this war would weaken NATO but it did the complete opposite and now he’s paying for it.
This meme is funny, but there is no care in the world for Putin’s feelings about his plan taking the opposite turn. Whatever happens next for Russia will all be because of him.
Whataboutism
While talking about real-world issues, such as the ongoing war in Ukraine, if anyone ever tries to say “but what about…” just remember this meme and give them the same response. The whataboutism propaganda technique is a way for people to detract away from the real issue at hand, which Russia is doing a lot of. It is not a new term, but is still very relevant today and will most likely continue to be.
But the way to stop that is to slap (metaphorically) the “what about” out of someone and keep to the real issues. And if that doesn’t work, just walk away.
Lithuania
The Chad meme was created as a joke about a stride, but we must prefer The Chad Lithuania. Lithuania has backed Ukraine as much as they can and it makes us wish that every country in the world was just like The Chad Lituania. They have realized Russia is a horrible country and have done what they can to stop connections with them and help Ukraine instead with military and aspiration support.
Because Lithuania is fairly close with Ukraine, it would make sense as to why they have been so supportive during this war. And just know their support goes beyond The Chad.
Power
There are few things in life that give people the feeling of power, money, status, and the more recent one, Russia’s military losses. This is only because Russia has been fighting this war dirty and without their military forces, they cannot do it anymore. It may not be a feeling of power that is felt by everyone if there are Russian military losses, but more satisfaction for what is right.
Russia has caused immense pain to Ukrainians and although some might feel that feeling powerful because Russia has a military is not okay when you see the true stories, you’ll understand.
Freedom
This meme explains the situation in such a funny way. Russia is like a slow weak school bus and Ukraine's desire for freedom is as strong as a heavy-duty train that will let nothing get in the way of its desire. Ukraine has been taking each attack head-on and not just in terms of the war but in terms of its people's desire to live freely in their country again.
We don’t think Russia knew how powerful Ukraine would be, mentally and physically. And now that they see, they should be prepared for Ukraine to push through just like this train.
Good.
This probably makes us all happy. This meme, created from a scene from Family Guy shows Peter having a conversation with God, only the text has been changed to be more relevant to today's feelings about Russia’s forces. If you know about all the things these Russian generals are making their soldiers do then you are part of the ones who would feel happy about them going straight to hell.
The Russian generals should be held accountable for their disgusting orders and if them going straight to the boiler room of hell is the accountability they get, we’re happy with that.
Concessions
It is sad that we are in a time where there is someone alive that we can compare to Hitler, but it's the reality of Putin’s choices. Putin has asked for concessions and it doesn’t look like he is gonna get them, the same way Hitler didn’t get his. Plus, if hypothetically Putin did get them, we doubt anyone would believe him if he said it was to prevent further aggression.
The world is not stupid enough to treat Putin any different from Hitler when they both have similar ways. This is why history is never forgotten because sometimes it tries to repeat itself.
By Any Means
One cannot help but laugh at this meme because the humor behind it has a slight truth to it. Ukraine has had to ask for so much military help (that it has gotten) to use against the Russian military. We don’t doubt that if aliens had to come to earth that Ukraine would also ask them for help against Russia, or at least let them use their spaceships against them.
Also, we don’t think aliens would be able to shock Ukraine right now because Russia has managed to do enough of that on their own with their despicable war crimes.
Brave Ukraine
This meme is on point. Russia continuously goes after Ukraine but behind their cowardly backs, they have war crimes lined up to commit because cheating is the only way they think they can win. But Ukraine's still there ready to fight back regardless. The way this meme has added light by using a bunny and a granny to the real and terrible truth, just shows how some situations can be lightened in a dark time.
Ukraine may be smaller than Ukraine, but they’re putting up a strong and fair fight. Russia will continue this war with war crimes because they know there is a chance Ukraine can win.
No Mac
This hilarious meme explains just how much the rest of the world wants as little as possible to do with Russia. As of May 2022, McDonald’s announced that they would be pulling all their chain stores out of Russia as a knock to Russia because of the humanitarian crisis they have caused in Ukraine. You must know you are a bad country when not even Mcdonald's wants anything to do with you anymore.
This meme was brilliantly put together with Biden being the one to tell the joke to Putin. And yeah, Putin doesn't get it anymore, along with some other more important sanctions.
Bros
While Aleksandr Lukashenko (top left) and Putin seem to be all buddy-buddy with one another, they can for sure not be seen as the definition of “bros”. Because as we know real bros don’t let you do stupid things like starting a war which includes tons of war crimes as well, and then still support you. Real bros do indeed look like Polish president Andrzej Duda (bottom left) and Zelensky.
Real bros like Duda puts tougher sanctions on terrible bros and provides safe places for Ukrainians to stay with included jobs, schooling, health care, and social welfare. So don’t be a Putin, be a Duda.
Unbreakable
This cartoon artwork meme is the definition of “what does not kill you makes you stronger”. As the sunflower is Ukraine's national flower, it is a great way to show how the more Putin tries to shake up Ukraine, the more and more it will keep getting back up and come back in masses. This cartoon also shows how once this is over, Ukraine will regrow even stronger than before.
The more Putin tries to crush Ukraine, the more resistance springs up. Putin should just give it up now, because he’s doing nothing but cause more damage that will only make the Ukrainians tougher.
Reactions
When Russia started attacking Ukraine, many countries rallied to help and the ones in the meme are represented pretty well with their accompanying pictures. Hungary has some sort of behind-the-scenes buddy thing going on with Putin, so they’re pretending not to see what's going on. Germany and France have been apprehensive to help as much as they could be, Poland has been a tremendous support and the USA is just shipping weapons left-right, and center.
The countries that have been supportive are trying their best to help however they can. But some are torn between situations because of their own needs. We’d only all of them would be like Poland.
Estonia
Be like Estonia. A country that also does not like Russia so in turn gives out military assistance to Ukraine that makes up quite the percentage of its GDP. Not only has Estonia assisted with the military but they have also taken in over 40 000 Ukrainian refugees and have granted protection for these people. They have also raised over $2 million, of which 50% of it has gone to Ukrainian hospitals.
We understand not all countries may be in a position to be like Estonia, but the rest of Europe surely could be and should be like them, acting faster and better.
Thank Ukraine
We’re pretty sure that Putin doesn’t only want Ukraine, he probably has some evil plan to take any part of Europe bordering Russia that isn’t part of NATO. This picture is such a powerful representation of just how hard Ukraine is taking the punch to provide a peaceful and free Europe. When the situation is looked at like this, you’d think that the rest of Europe would do everything in their power to help Ukraine.
The soldiers who are fighting for Ukraine are the ones who take the biggest fall out of all of this and this picture also makes you realize just how important they really are.
Go Baykar
This situation was mentioned in a meme further above, but this one just adds a humorous flair to the reactions to the depth of this situation. Firstly, how people of Lithuania, normal people raised over $5 million so they could buy another Bayraktar TB2 for Ukraine, which sounds great. And then you what they will gift it to them for free so the money can go to better use for humanitarian aid.
We’d also be spitting out food at the absolute shock of how amazing this is. It’s phenomenal how one situation can create a ripple effect for greater help to Ukraine.
